《夜班经理》The Night Manager推荐/分享

The book named The Night Manager is my recommendation. A classical spy story comes from the time of Cold.

When we talk about a spy what are we thinking about? Gentlemen in Kingsman or stunts in Mission: Impossible? These are what we want to find in an emissary story. However, we won't see any of them in The Night Manager, which is a marvelously observed, relentless tale.

At the start of it all, Jonathan Pine is merely the night manager at a luxury hotel. But when a single attempt to pass on information to the British authorities - about an international businessman at the hotel with suspicious dealings - backfires terribly, and people close to pine begin to die. Hence he commits himself to a battle against powerful forces he can not begin to imagine.

In my point of view, it's really hard to simply divide characters in this novel into just good or bad. Human nature is complex. Your allis may help you while sell you to your enemy the moment you leave; the man you consider wicked may make illegal trade but do anything to save his child.

Besides billion-dollar price tags and the truth of cruel arms trade, we're confronted with corrupt intelligence agents. The enemy is among us. No one betrayed us but we betrayed our faith. It is us who put our spy in a dangerous situation. When righteousness is no longer here, we choose to fight against injustice; when no one can be trusted, we choose to become upright.

Sometimes it takes bad luck for people to understand their goals better. Sometimes it takes disillusionment for people to become informed.

I sincerely hope you'll enjoy this book.
